Taiwan’s contract electronics manufacturer, Hon Hai Group has issued an apology statement for technical negligence regarding their recruitment process. The company, known internationally as Foxconn, addressed the public on Friday after an employee protest broke out at their Zhengzhou factory this week.
Hon Hai explains they found a technical error in the onboarding process. They apologize for the mistake and also guarantee that the actual salary is the same as the original agreement.
The company says it will respect any employees who choose to resign and has agreed to provide them with a care subsidy of 10,000 renminbi (US$1,400) per person. It also adds it will continue to provide comprehensive support to employees who choose to stay.
Meanwhile, Apple says that its staff at the Zhengzhou factory are working closely with Foxconn to ensure concerns are addressed. The factory produces Apple smartphones, accounting for 70% of global iPhone shipments.
