The foreign ministry welcomed Polish House Representative and Chairman Waldemar Andzel and his delegation on Monday. The delegation's visit is of significance as 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of Taiwan's representative office in Poland.

The eight-member cross-party parliamentary group will stay until Friday. They plan to visit the foreign ministry, National Development Council, Mainland Affairs Council, and several of Taiwan’s famous landmarks. Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) will be awarding Andzel the Diplomatic Goodwill Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Taiwan-Poland relations.

The Polish Parliament has been supportive of Taiwan-Poland cooperation. In July, the Polish Senate and EU committees passed a resolution supporting Taiwan's participation in the World Health Organization (WHO). Poland also donated 400,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan to help fight against the epidemic.

The two countries also worked together to help resettle displaced Ukrainian refugees in Poland after the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

In recent years, Taiwan and Poland have signed multiple bilateral agreements cooperating in criminal justice, taxation, science and higher education, and more.  The two countries will continue to strengthen their close and resilient partnership.
