Taiwanese participants have won 25 medals and 17 awards at the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition. The international competition showcases different technical and vocational skills.

Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) says 57 Taiwanese talents participated in 50 vocational areas. He says Taiwan placed third in this year’s competition, winning the most awards since the country began participating in the event in 1971.

The WorldSkills Competition encourages excellence in vocational training and gives participants the opportunity to share knowledge and form relationships. Players can compete in one of a broad range of fields, including digital game art, hotel reception, hairdressing, carpentry, and more.

In order to encourage the participants’ dedication and hard work, the labor ministry is providing a maximum NT$1.2 million prize per person. They are also exempt from Taiwan’s mandatory military service, various skill tests, and are guaranteed admissions to or extra credit for schools.

The WorldSkills organization has also officially announced that Taiwan will host its 2025 competition. The last competition to be held in Taiwan was in 1993. Premier Su says that he expects Taiwan's talents to perform even better in their homeland.
