President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) says women in science and technology are an important driving force to push Taiwan forward. Tsai made the statement at the 2022 Women in Science and Technology Conference in a videotaped speech. The event titled “A New Workplace of Co-Prosperity” was held at the National Taiwan University Hospital convention center on Friday.
In her speech, President Tsai pointed out that Taiwan's technology industry occupies key positions in the international arena. She said the achievements of the women in the audience are remarkable, especially those who take care of families and pursue their careers simultaneously. Finally, she thanked the attendees for their contributions of professionalism and for setting an example for Taiwanese women.
Taiwan's gender equality ranks sixth out of 163 countries and is first in Asia. Taiwan has received international recognition, but the government continues to cultivate diverse, equal, and inclusive work environments for all.
