Radio Taiwan International (Rti) co-hosted a forum with Kainan University on Thursday. The forum focused on the impact of heightened US-China strategic competition.
The forum highlighted recent events including the Communist Party of China’s 20th Party Congress, the US midterm election, and the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in November.
Participants included scholars and experts discussing how to ensure Taiwan’s national security and maintain peace in the Taiwan Strait. Rti Chairperson Lai Hsiu-ju (賴秀如) says the confrontation between the United States and China is reaching a critical point. She says Rti is continuing to use its services in 18 languages to share information about Taiwan with the world.
Kainan University head Yen Chi-kuang (顏志光) says tense US-China relations over the past two years have changed the global economic environment. He says the forum provides an opportunity for students at the university to learn about these key changes in the international landscape.
