Taiwan sees record low temperatures with a strong cold snap sweeping the country early morning on Friday. The Central Weather Bureau predicts even lower temperatures for the coming Christmas weekend.
Weather stations throughout Taiwan are reporting record low temperatures for this winter season so far. The lowest report is 3.9 degrees Celsius from Miaoli station. The weather bureau sends out low temperature warnings throughout Taiwan, especially for the north.
The weather bureau predicts the cold snap coming on Friday would hit the strongest during the weekend. Taiwan is likely to see temperatures below ten degrees Celsius throughout the island.
The cold snap however brings little humidity, therefore most of Taiwan would have sunny days throughout the weekend. That’s except for eastern Taiwan with chances for light showers.
According to the weather bureau, temperatures would rise up as the cold snap weakens starting Monday. Lowest temperatures would be around 15 to 16 degrees Celsius. However, humidity would rise as well. Keelung and northeast Taiwan facing the northeast monsoon would see periods of rain.
Weather forecasters predict another cold front with high humidity will reach Taiwan next Wednesday. Taiwan will most likely see rainy days all the way till New Year’s Eve.
