President Tsai Ing-wen says improving the living conditions of military personnel is key to strengthening Taiwan's military. She was speaking on Friday at a new military facilities inauguration ceremony in Kaohsiung.
Tsai says her most important responsibility as commander-in-chief is to care for the country's national army. This includes providing the best military equipment and improving the camp's living conditions.
Tsai toured the new camp facilities, which includes reading rooms, health centers, gyms, and sleeping quarters. She says the improved conditions fulfill the government's promise to take better care of the national army.
She adds the family members of military personnel should feel assured their country is taking care of their loved ones. She says the improved living conditions and combat training will strengthen Taiwan's military.
