President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) says the government will work with businesses to build a more environmentally sustainable economy to reach its 2050 net-zero goals. Tsai spoke at a ceremony for the 4th National Enterprise Environmental Protection Awards winners on Wednesday. The award is the highest environmental honor for domestic enterprises.

Tsai says the award winners this year come from a variety of sectors. The winners represent the aviation, technology, medical, financial, and tourism industries. Tsai adds that these businesses all incorporate carbon reduction measures during their production process and promote sustainability concepts to their customers.

The president says the collaboration between corporations and individuals not only helps with Taiwan's economic development, but also promotes social responsibility and sustainable development. She says the government will work closely with businesses to support their sustainability mission.

Tsai says she supports bigger corporations making changes first so they can later assist small to mid-sized companies. She says this will minimize the financial impact as companies make eco-friendly transitions. Tsai adds that this effort will create a sustainable version of Taiwan for future generations.
