85% of college students are looking for a part-time job during this year's winter break, the highest number in the last 15 years. That is according to survey results released on Friday conducted by online job bank Yes123.
Yes123 attributes the rise to the minimum hourly wage having been increased to NT$176 (~US$6) this year. Over 90% of students say they would be willing to work during the Lunar New Year because they earn overtime wages for hours worked during national holidays.
The survey results reflect a strong desire among the youth to work in digital and social media. The top three desired jobs for male college students are:
Youtuber, online game streamer, and social media manager. Female college students' top three desired jobs are: social media manager, model, and tutor.
Yes123 spokesperson Yang Tsung-pin (楊宗斌) says students should look for jobs related to their studies to boost their resume. Yang adds students should prioritize workplace safety more than pay.
