Cherry blossoms at one of Taiwan’s most popular viewing destinations are predicted to open 5 days earlier than last year due to warm winter conditions.

According to an announcement by Wuling Farm in Taichung County, traffic controls limiting the number of visitors entering the farm will also begin early, starting February 7. It says that with the exception of a few cold snaps in December, this winter has been unusually warm, leading to the early flowering of the trees.

Wuling Farm will also offer a special “senior friendly day” for elderly tourists for the first time, in light of Taiwan’s aging population. A special 5 hour tour with enhanced accessibility will be offered on the senior friendly day. Only 40 spots for the tour are available, which include one elderly visitor and up to 3 caretakers.

In recent years, Wuling Farm has been more popular than ever. Reservations for the 2,500 rooms in the farm were completely booked within seconds of opening online last November. The farm also offers campsites, which were likewise booked within 5 minutes of opening, twice as fast as the previous year.
