A German parliamentary delegation has arrived in Taiwan and will meet with several high-ranking officials to promote cooperation between the two countries. The delegation is composed of a group of Free Democratic Party lawmakers, who arrived in Taiwan on Monday.

Bundestag Defense Committee head Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann and the party's deputy chairperson Johannes Vogel are leading the delegation. This is the third time Germany has sent a parliamentary delegation to Taiwan in four months.

The Foreign Ministry says the Free Democratic Party has advocated for democratic countries to deter China from threatening Taiwan. The ministry says Taiwan looks forward to working with Germany and other like-minded countries to promote peace and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait.

The delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌), Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), and national security chief Wellington Koo (顧立雄), among others.

The German parliamentarians are set to leave Taiwan on Thursday.
