Taiwan is promoting new travel deals and subsidies to boost its tourism industry. That came from the Tourism Bureau on Thursday, when it introduced a variety of new travel vouchers available for international tourists.
Taiwan closed its borders to foreign tourists in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and only reopened in October last year. Now that international tourists are returning to Taiwan, the Tourism Bureau plans to provide various types of discounts for both independent travelers and tour groups.
Some of the deals include coupons for fresh fruit, 4G data plans, airport transportation, and high speed rail tickets. The bureau expects to make these promotions available for at least the first few months of this year.
The Transportation Ministry is also working on providing subsidies and combo ticket deals for visiting some of Taiwan's tourist attractions. The ministry says it hopes to boost Taiwan's status as an international destination and meet its goal of bringing 6 million foreign tourists to Taiwan this year.
