Taiwan National Health Insurance Administration says early evidence shows personal information was not leaked in an alleged data breach. The administration made the announcement on Thursday after conducting a preliminary internal investigation.
Three current and former agency employees were recently suspected of leaking sensitive information for several years.
There are concerns that healthcare enrollment information and personal medical records of national security officials were part of the data breach. The agency last week said personal medical records were not part of the breach.
The agency now says other personal information was also not leaked. Officials say one accused employee Hsieh Yu-lien (謝玉蓮) accessed over 13,000 entries in the database, but there is no evidence that shows Hsieh copied and took those records.
The case is still under investigation by prosecutors.
