Though many predict economic problems in 2023, Taiwan should learn from the rabbit’s wisdom, caution, and skill to pass this difficult time. That came from Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) on Monday as he visited temples in New Taipei.
Lai visited four temples throughout New Taipei on the second day of the new year. At each place he prayed to the presiding deity for peace and prosperity. He and other DPP politicians also gave worshippers traditional lucky bags with gifts.
Lai says last year was the most difficult year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and experts expect the economy to face difficulties this year. He says President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), the Cabinet, and lawmakers have all worked together to respond to these challenges.
But Lai adds the rabbit is an auspicious animal. He says the country, government, individuals, and companies can all learn from the animal’s wisdom to surely turn misfortunes into blessings and improve the people’s lives.
