Former NBA player Jeremy Lin (林書豪) made his public debut at a press conference in Taiwan on Wednesday as a Kaohsiung Steeler. He has recently arrived to join the P. League+.
At the event, Kaohsiung Steelers General Manager Kenny Kao (高景炎) showed off Lin’s new Steelers jersey with Lin’s name and number on it.
Lin said he’ll be playing his first game on February 12 as long as he doesn’t get injured beforehand. The Kaohsiung Steelers are set to play against the Formosa Dreamers that day.
After the news of Lin’s joining Taiwan’s professional basketball league came out over the Lunar New Year holiday, the team began creating a wide range of Lin-related merchandise.
Lin has many fans in Taiwan. His parents emigrated to the US from Taiwan. His brother Joseph Lin (林書緯) plays with the New Taipei Kings.
Lin was the first Taiwanese American to play in the NBA.
