Taiwan will continue to expand its relationship with Paraguay and work together to rebuild the economy in the post COVID-19 era. That's according to Presidential Office spokesperson Kolas Yotaka on Wednesday, when Taiwan welcomed a delegation from Paraguay, which includes Paraguay's President Mario Abdo Benítez. This is his third visit to Taiwan.

The delegation also includes Paraguay's Foreign Minister Julio César Arriola and Commerce and Industry Minister Luis Castiglion. Kolas says that the delegation's current visit serves to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Benítez says Taiwan is an important ally in Latin America and the Caribbean. Benítez adds he supports Taiwan's increased global participation.

The delegation will attend an international forum and other related events held in Taipei as part of their visit. The forum focuses on the empowerment of women in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Kolas says Taiwan and Paraguay have collaborated in many areas in the past, including women's rights, public health, education, and agriculture and fisheries. She adds that Taiwan hopes to work with Paraguay to rebuild the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic.
