Taiwan’s International Orchid Show opened on Friday in Tainan. It’s the 20th anniversary of the annual show of Taiwan’s most famous flowers. Taiwan’s orchid show has become one of the top three orchid shows in the world, alongside the World Orchid Conference and Tokyo’s orchid expo. Taiwan will even host the World Orchid Conference in 2024.
Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said that Taiwan’s orchids have become famous throughout the world. Just as tulips have become a great industry for Holland, Taiwan’s orchids have also created great value for Taiwan and its farmers.
This year’s expo features flags of Ukraine and Turkey made with orchids to show Taiwan’s support for the people of Ukraine and Turkey. The expo also hosts contests, flower design classes, lectures, forums and DIY events.
The 2023 exhibit will be held from March 3 to March 19 in Tainan at the Taiwan Orchid Plantation.
