As the pandemic situation in Taiwan stabilizes, authorities are looking to further relax COVID-19 restrictions. Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) on Thursday announced changes to isolation rules.

Chen says starting on March 20, Taiwan will lift isolation requirements for those who have tested positive for COVID-19 but are experiencing mild symptoms.

Cabinet spokesperson Lo Ping-cheng (羅秉成) says epidemic authorities also plan to revise the definition of severe COVID-19 symptoms. He says those with asymptomatic or mild symptoms will no longer have to report their cases.

Chen also instructs the Education Ministry and Labor Ministry to clarify sick leave requirements for teachers, students, and others with mild or asymptomatic cases.

Chen urges all ministries to cooperate with the latest epidemic prevention policies, adjust relevant guidelines in a timely manner, and encourage all eligible individuals to get vaccinated.
