Taiwan's Foreign Ministry welcomes remarks by top French and British officials on maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait. Last Friday, top French and British leadership officials made a joint statement at the Franco-British summit on the importance of maintaining peace in the region.
The joint statement called on countries to have a peaceful approach when addressing cross-strait issues. The statement also urged China to not provide any assistance to Russia related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Taiwan's Foreign Ministry welcomed the comments on Monday. The ministry says the statement shows democratic countries around the globe collectively recognize the importance of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait.
The ministry especially notes the value of two important European countries, France and the United Kingdom, calling attention to this topic. In response, The ministry says Taiwan will work to protect peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
