US Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan is visiting Taiwan from Monday to Saturday this week. He is leading a delegation that will participate in the 2023 Smart City Summit and Expo in Taipei.

The summit is expecting to see over 100 city leaders from 47 countries to come and participate in dialogues about the latest innovations and solutions for smart cities.

Governor Bryan will also meet with officials in the Foreign Ministry and Economics Ministry, as well as people working in technology, trade, and aviation.

Bryan became governor of the Virgin Islands in 2019 and has been strengthening ties with Taiwan since he came to office. This includes signing a memorandum for mutual recognition of driver’s licenses. He has also sent many trade delegations to Taiwan to bolster economic ties.

The US Virgin Islands are an archipelago in the Caribbean Sea and have a population of over 100,000.
