The 2023 azalea blossom festival will take place in Hehuanshan in Nantou County on April 1 until June 15. Each spring, azalea blossoms have attracted massive crowds on the weekends. This leads to major traffic jams in the area.
To prevent these jams, highway authorities say people must travel with three persons in their vehicles. Only vehicles with three persons will be able to use the main road, Provincial Highway 14, to enter the area on the weekends from April 1 to June 15.
Tourists say they support the policy because that can help them avoid being stuck in traffic for hours.
Cars will also have to follow the same rules for the Tomb Sweeping holiday from 6 am to 11 am.
Police say they will be there to enforce these laws. They hope to give visitors a better experience as they enjoy the azalea season.
