Organizations representing Taiwan and the United States are collaborating on a forum focused on gender equality in sports exchange. The forum will take place on May 5 and 6 at National Taipei University. The organizers held a press conference on Tuesday to announce the details of the forum.
The panels will discuss four areas: sports media and gender equality, sports diplomacy, gender equality in sports, and sports and education. The organizers say they hope people will see Taiwan’s values are in alignment with other countries around the world.
Organizers say they invited scholars from the United States, Japan, Australia, and other countries to share their expertise. They add that they have also invited President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) because she values the importance of sports diplomacy.
The event will also celebrate the finalists from the Women in Sports International Photo Awards. The organizers say women in sports photography are underrepresented globally, so they want Taiwan to globally demonstrate advocacy for gender equality in sports through these events.
