Taiwan will set up a new representative office in Milan. That’s according to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. This will be Taiwan’s second office in Italy, with the first one located in Rome.
The ministry says the office will promote trade and economic exchanges between Taiwan and Italy, and ties between the two countries are warming.
The ministry says the process to establish a representative office has been long but relatively smooth. It says the two countries were already discussing the new office prior to the current Italian administration’s inauguration, but waited for the right time to share the news.
The ministry says preparations for this new office are in progress, and it has already arranged a rental space. It adds that the office will also offer consular and emergency services to Taiwanese expatriates living and working in the eight administrative regions in northern Italy.
