Radio Taiwan International President Cheryl Lai (賴秀如) has signed a collaboration agreement with the Asia Engagement Consortium (AEC), joining the group as its 11th member to cultivate cultural exchanges in the region.
During Tuesday’s signing ceremony, Lai said she is very happy Rti has so much to offer with its 19-language services, and she is honored to be part of the Consortium. Rti is the first media organization to join the AEC.
Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation Chairman Michael Hsiao Hsin-Huang (蕭新煌) says the AEC welcomes Rti’s membership and praises the organization’s transformative mission that is rooted in serving Taiwan internationally.
Lai points out that Rti deeply values its Southeast Asian listenerships. Rti is celebrating Kartini Day and Eid al-Fitr this Sunday at the Taipei Main Station, and it will be meeting Rti’s listener clubs in Kalimantan and Jakarta this June.
Moreover, Rti is hosting the Taiwan Forum in Bangkok in July and Lai invites AEC members to join the event.
Taiwan-Asia Foundation CEO Alan Yang (楊昊) says Rti embodies the New Southbound Policy’s spirits, and he hopes to see more collaboration between AEC members to promote the policy.
Other AEC members include the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, Taiwan Foundation of Democracy, Prospect Foundation, and National Culture and Arts Foundation, among others.
