21 U.S. House Representatives wrote an open letter to the State Department asking Secretary Antony Blinken to invite President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Summit. The summit will be held in San Francisco in November this year.
In a Foreign Affairs Committee interview on Thursday, Taiwan’s foreign Minister Joseph Wu says that his ministry is working with relevant countries regarding the meeting.
When asked whether Taiwan would be invited to attend the World Health Assembly (WHA) scheduled to start in May, Wu says that the Foreign Ministry is working on expanding Taiwan’s role in the international community. Wu added that the United States has been assisting Taiwan on the matter.
