A delegation representing the Latin American and Caribbean chapters of the Formosa Club has arrived in Taiwan. The delegation arrived on Monday, marking the first time these two Formosa Club chapters have jointly sent a group of parliamentarians to Taiwan.
The parliamentarians hail from Panama, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and other countries. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry says these exchanges benefit Taiwan’s foreign relations and generate regional support for Taiwan.
The ministry says the delegation will meet with Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃). It will also meet with the Health Ministry to get a better understanding of Taiwan’s health insurance and medical care systems.
The Foreign Ministry says the Formosa Club delegation values freedom, democracy, and human rights. It adds that the club members have openly advocated for Taiwan’s participation in the WHO, the UN Framework on Climate Change, and other international organizations.
