Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) says Taiwan’s multicultural heritage must be preserved and promoted. Lai shared these views when he spoke to the winners of the 26th Global Chinese Culture and Arts Award on Monday.
The vice president says the government and non-governmental organizations should work together to help the international community better understand and support Taiwan through culture. He says he believes Taiwan will be stronger if it can bolster its democracy and demonstrate its cultural confidence.
Lai says he has always believed that culture is fundamental and technology can take a country to new heights. He adds that Taiwan's highly developed technology industry has brought it into the international arena, where the country can now share its culture as well.
