Located in Taipei’s Xinyi district, the Taipei Dome was originally scheduled for completion in 2011. More than 10 years later, the end finally seems to be in sight.

Legislators dive head first onto freshly laid turf in the Taipei Dome as part of their inspection. Thankfully, the grass proved to be thick enough to ensure safety.
The dome is a multi-purpose stadium with a seating capacity of 40,000 people for sporting events. It is being built through a contract between the Taipei government and the Farglory Group. The construction faced a series of delays due to political disagreements, but it appears the project will finally be completed.
Farglory explains they are hoping to receive the operating license by July and host baseball games at the end of the year to soft launch the stadium. The stadium will also host concerts, and a spokesperson says the stadium will not receive the same noise complaints as the Taipei Arena.
He says the current construction progress is focused on performing fire safety inspections. In the event of an emergency, visitors need to be able to completely leave the building in 15 minutes.
Once safety protocols are modified and implemented, the stadium can receive its license. The wait is almost over, and people who enjoy concerts and sporting events will soon have another place to visit.
