A Swedish parliamentary delegation is visiting Taiwan to meet with several senior officials and promote exchanges between the two countries. The delegation arrived on Sunday and will depart on Friday.

The Foreign Ministry says the delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Koo (顧立雄), and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), among others. The Swedish parliamentarians will also visit the Economics Ministry, Health Ministry, and other medical, educational, and cultural institutions.

The ministry adds that this visit will facilitate deeper exchanges, and the parliamentarians can learn about Taiwanese freedom, democracy, and economic development.

The Foreign Ministry also says Swedish parliamentarians and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson have spoken up for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and condemned China’s threats. It adds that Taiwan-Sweden relations have been growing stronger, and they are partners that both value and protect freedom and democracy.
