Argentinian medical care representatives have advocated for Taiwan’s participation as an observer at the upcoming World Health Assembly (WHA). Taiwan has still not received an invitation to the WHA, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland from May 21 to 30.

Taiwan’s representative to Argentina Florencia Hsie (謝妙宏) says the international community has commended Taiwan’s response to the pandemic, humanitarian support, and global cooperation. She adds that Taiwan is a valuable partner to the world as it recovers from the pandemic’s economic setbacks.

Argentina’s National Academy of Medicine chair Juan Mazzei has called on the WHO to let Taiwan participate as an observer at the WHA and other WHO activities. He says it’s important to exchange healthcare expertise and experience to advance medical care systems around the world.

Argentinian Nurses Federation President Ruben Lastra says good quality medical care should not be determined by politics, economics, or religion. He adds that Taiwan’s pandemic response helped other healthcare systems and saved lives.
