President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) says the Asia Pacific region is key to global supply chains. Tsai spoke on Thursday when she met with the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) President Peter McMullin.
President Tsai says CACCI is an important platform for economic partnerships in the region. She adds that Taiwan is a founding member of the confederation and reliable supply chains have become more important since the Russo-Ukrainian War began.
Tsai says Taiwan has used soft power to contribute to the Asia Pacific’s development. She adds that Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy has made progress in economic cooperation, talent exchanges, and regional supply chains.
Tsai says that trade revenues between Taiwan and cooperating countries reached record highs last year under the policy. She adds Taiwan has been working with New Southbound partners to cooperate on disaster prevention and agricultural technology as well.
