The STUF United Fund hosted events in Geneva, Switzerland this past weekend to advocate for Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly (WHA). Taiwan was not invited to the assembly, despite support from its diplomatic allies and WHO members.
The STUF United Fund is an American non-profit organization that supports international charity work. The organization hosted an event on May 21 that included speeches from biochemistry and epidemiology specialists and highlighted Taiwan’s scientific contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fund’s representative Danny Chen says the event aims to increase awareness about Taiwan’s challenges in the international community. He adds that the organization is committed to global health and Taiwan is ready to help.
Other speakers praised Taiwan’s efforts to aid other countries during the pandemic by donating masks around the world. Over 300 participants attended the STUF United Fund’s event, and others attended a march in Geneva on Saturday to support Taiwan’s inclusion in the WHA.
