President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) says the Center for Asia-Pacific Resilience and Innovation (CAPRI) is working hard to solve key global issues and share Taiwan’s perspective with the world. Tsai spoke on Tuesday when she met with CAPRI’s delegation, led by former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
CAPRI hosted an international forum on Monday, where government officials, scholars, and citizen representatives met to discuss innovative solutions for modern society’s challenges. Tsai says the organization was founded last May, and it is the first international think tank that Taiwan has established.
The president also says the pandemic and Russo-Ukrainian War have shown that it’s important for the international community to unite against major challenges. She adds that Taiwan plays a key role in global affairs and she’s grateful to CAPRI for sharing Taiwan’s perspective with the world.
Turnbull says many countries in the Asia-Pacific region focus on politics in Washington and Beijing instead of communicating and collaborating among themselves. He adds that national security is an interconnected issue, and more democratic countries should work closely together.
