Japan Airlines (JAL) Transocean Air whale shark-painted plane appeared at Taoyuan International Airport in time to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival. The eye-catching pink shark with cherry blossoms Boeing 737-800W landed at 7:50 a.m. on Thursday for a chartered flight, attracting many aviation fans and airline staff to catch a glimpse.
Japan Transocean Air Co., Ltd. (JTA) is headquartered in Okinawa, Japan, and is part of the JAL Group. It flies 14 domestic routes from Okinawa to the main island of Japan and outlying islands with 13 aircraft. JTA’s Thursday flight to Taiwan was its third overall and the first since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The flight took off again at 9:30 a.m. and returned to Okinawa. The JAL Taiwan Branch reassured the public that the whale shark plane will return to Taoyuan Airport on June 25, giving aviation fans another opportunity to sea the special aircraft.
