On Monday local time, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) launched a new Taiwan Trade Center in Dallas, Texas. TAITRA Chairman Huang Chih-fang (黃志芳) was joined by a number of current and former lawmakers, including former Democratic House Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, Republican House Rep. Pete Sessions, Lance Gooden, Keith Self, and Democratic House Rep. Jasmin Crockett.

In his opening remarks, Huang says that Texas is an important hub for technology, energy, and manufacturing, and that TAITRA sees its potential for dynamic economic development. He says that Taiwan and Texas have overlapping expertise in semiconductors, electronics, telecommunications, machinery tools, and aerospace. He adds that his team looks forward to fostering collaborations between Taiwan and Texas.

TAITRA has set up Taiwan Trade Centers in four other U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago, making the Dallas center the fifth of its kind.
