Homeowners with one self-use residential loan could be eligible for NT$30,000 in government support. Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang (林右昌) announced on Monday that homeowners can apply for the “Middle Class Support Project” through the official website of the Construction Department before December 29 of this year.
Lin said that applicants with a mortgage approved before February 28, 2023, and a total household income below NT$1.2 million (US$38,200) are eligible. In addition, the original loan amount must be less than NT$8.5 million (US$270,800) for residential properties in Taipei, and NT$7 million (US$223,000) in other counties and cities.
Lin added that the first batch of eligible applications has already been received, totaling 250,000 households across 244 financial institutions. Those who are approved for the program will receive a direct deposit into their bank accounts. Lin said he encourages more people to apply and that the government will continue taking action to help reduce financial pressures on the public.
