The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) is warning the public that shore conditions will still be dangerous for the next few days even though Typhoon Talim has passed. Those going to the coast should pay special attention to safety as the weather remains unstable.
The CWB says that Typhoon Talim is currently mild but will be strengthening as it moves away from Taiwan towards Guangdong, China. Though it will not directly impact Taiwan, long waves are expected on the northern, eastern, and southwestern coasts of the country. The Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Kinmen will also see turbulent seas.
In addition, the bureau reports that a new tropical storm is developing in the southeastern part of the Philippines, and may become the fifth typhoon of the year. The CWB pointed out that if the storm moves up the east coast of Taiwan, rain is expected in the north and eastern half of the country. If it moves toward the South China Sea, it will affect the southern and southeastern regions of Taiwan.
