Taiwan secured its first gold medal in the FISU World University Games on Sunday. Taiwanese martial arts athlete Sun Chia-hung (孫家閎) won the first place in Men’s Tai Chi with a score of 9.693 points. He also garnered silver for Men’s Tai Chi sword with 9.170 points the day before.
Sun said in an interview he wishes that his accomplishments can bring more attention to the development of martial arts in Taiwan. He shared that he was inspired by legendary actor Jet Li (李連杰) and started learning Chinese martial arts at the age of three.
Jet Li is a Hollywood actor best known for his Chinese martial arts performances.
