The Kaohsiung Museum of Labor has relaunched its widely acclaimed special exhibition “Jalan-Jalan. Be With You Along the Way” online. The exhibition is dedicated to migrants’ human rights conditions in southern Taiwan, and presented in Chinese, English, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, and Filipino to reach a wider audience.

In preparation for the exhibition, the museum conducted interviews with ten organizations that are dedicated to migrants’ human rights. It also collected objects that are used daily by migrants.

The museum’s exhibition department head Li Ying-Hsuan (李映萱) said that going virtual has become a common practice for museums nowadays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the introduction of an online exhibition, the museum continues to raise public awareness about migrants’ human rights beyond borders.

Li hopes that the exhibition will make people see the contributions new residents and migrant workers have made to Taiwanese society.
