Land and sea warnings for Typhoon Khanun were lifted on Friday morning as Khanun heads toward Japan.

Central Emergency Operation Center deputy commander Chi Wen-jong (祁文中) urges people to remain cautious. He says localized torrential rains in central and southern regions are likely and that local governments should continuously monitor the rainfall.

Seven streams in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, were put on red alert for landslides, and 222 streams on yellow alert on Friday morning. Four streams in Taichung, Nantou, Chiayi, and Kaohsiung have been identified as potential large-scale collapse areas.

Highway traffic was also affected, with several sections of Provincial Highways 8, 14A, 20, and 29 closed. The Central Emergency Operation Center has reported 746 incidents caused by the typhoon. New Taipei City has reported the highest number of incidents nationwide with 340 cases. A total of 140 people were evacuated, and 66 people sought shelter in Yilan, New Taipei, and Kaohsiung. The typhoon also caused power outages for more than 30,000 households.
