The campaign office for the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) says that Ko has no intention of teaming up with Foxconn founder Terry Gou (郭台銘) in the upcoming election. The statement came following rumors about the Foxconn founder reaching out to the TPP nominee attempting to run for office together.

TPP campaign spokesperson Vicky Chen (陳智菡) says the party does not oppose collaboration, but will not proactively seek out opportunities. Ko also says he has no intention of being someone else’s deputy and will not run with others in exchange for political benefit.

Chen also says that both Ko and DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te (賴清德) received more than 30% support among voters, citing internal TPP polls from last week. She says that her party is tired of clarifying the rumors and that she hopes Terry Gou’s office will respect the TPP’s principles. In addition, KMT’s presidential nominee Hou You-yi’s support rate is lower than 20%, according to Chen.
