Taiwan will participate in 32 sports events in the Hangzhou Asian Games, with a total of over 500 participants and a total delegation of over 700 people. Due to the one-year delay caused by the pandemic, the games will begin on September 23.
Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) visited the National Sports Training Center on Tuesday morning to learn about preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Lai also stated that during his time in the legislature, he had approved funding to support the National Sports Training Center project. He said he also green-lit athletes and coaches to travel business class for overseas competitions, and promoted the Tokyo 2020 Gold Plan.
The Vice President emphasized that the government has a responsibility to promote national sports and enable athletes to pursue their dreams. He said when they stand on the international stage, they will receive support from Taiwan regardless of ethnic group or party, and everyone is united.
