The Slovakian think tank GLOBSEC and Taiwan’s representative office in Slovakia held their first-ever seminar bringing together Taiwanese and Slovakian disinformation experts on Tuesday. Taiwan Deputy Foreign Minister Roy Lee (李淳) stated that the seminar highlights the deep friendship between the two countries and their determination to uphold democracy.
More than 20 Taiwanese experts participated in the seminar, including those from the National Communications Commission, the Prospect Foundation, the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR), and Soochow University.
Roy Lee says that Slovakia plays a leading role in supporting Ukraine, which makes it a target for Russian disinformation campaigns aimed at weakening social cohesion and damaging Ukraine-Slovakia relations.
David Lee (李南陽), Taiwan’s representative to Slovakia, says that China continues to provoke Taiwan militarily, testing its defense capabilities and dividing Taiwanese society through disinformation campaigns. According to Lee, the campaigns aim to create chaos and fear, weakening Taiwan’s determination and resistance to China.
David Lee says that Taiwan and Slovakia share universal values. Their commitment to freedom and democracy serves as the cornerstone of their partnership.
