Residents of Aiyi Street in Taoyuan City are worried that nearby construction has caused structural issues in their homes, with cracks appearing in walls and extending down to the floors. Upon closer inspection, floor tiles have become uneven, suggesting a deformation of the buildings.

However, the problems don’t end there, as one resident expressed fears about the foundation of her home sinking, and another lamented the foul odor emanating from a ruptured septic tank, which has severely impacted their quality of life.

Residents drew parallels with a recent incident in Taipei City in which Kee Tai Properties' construction affected many households and caused surrounding buildings to collapse. One resident said she doesn't dare to fall asleep at night for fear something might happen.

The local government has acted swiftly, dispatching officials from Taoyuan’s  Office of Building Administration to conduct a thorough inspection. Office director Chuang Ching-Chuan (莊敬權) confirmed that the damage was due to ground vibrations caused by excavation during construction.

A representative for the developer, Ding Tai Construction says they have been conducting evaluations of neighboring structures throughout the construction process and have prepared safety reports. The company emphasized its commitment to accountability and assured residents that they would provide a satisfactory resolution. However, the specific remedies to be offered to the harmed residents are still under construction.
