Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) returned to Taiwan after a three-day visit to St. Kitts and Nevis on Thursday, after celebrating its 40th independence anniversary and 40 years of bilateral relations.
During his visit, Wu met with Governor-General Marcella Liburd and Prime Minister Terrance Drew to convey President Tsai Ing-wen’s (蔡英文) well wishes and gratitude for their government’s support.
The Foreign Minister also met with his counterpart Denzil Douglas. The two ministers signed an agreement on diplomatic staff training cooperation, marking the two nations’ 40 years of allyship.
According to the Foreign Ministry, St. Kitts and Nevis has undertaken several development projects with Taiwan since 1984. St. Kitts and Nevis is one of Taiwan’s 13 remaining diplomatic allies, and the island country opened an embassy in Taipei in 2008.
