Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) will lead a delegation to Seoul, Korea for the 2023 World Cities Summit on Sunday. The trip is one of several inter-city visits taken by the mayor this summer, including a trip to Singapore in July and to Shanghai in August.
Taipei City government spokesperson Yin Wei (殷瑋) said Chiang’s speech at the summit will focus on innovation and creativity and sharing the experience of Taipei. Chiang plans to meet with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to discuss the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on youth issues. Yin said Chiang’s visit to Korea will center on the themes of city diplomacy and youth development.
Chiang hopes to learn from Seoul’s experience in innovation and entrepreneurship and looks forward to cultural exchanges between youths in Taiwan and Korea.
Chiang’s itinerary also includes a breakfast meeting with the Mayor of Wellington, New Zealand Tory Whanau [Fah-now]. Wellington is a sister city of Taipei.
