After Taiwan’s semiconductor industry came into the global spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic, tech businesses and entrepreneurs from Taiwan and abroad reconvened in Taipei on Tuesday to discuss opportunities and challenges they face navigating the post-pandemic market and new technologies.

Infineon’s Power and Sensing Systems Division COO Claire Wang told the participants at the Anchor Innovation Summit that the climate issue is at the front and center of the company’s operational strategy. Wang said that the German semiconductor manufacturer is seeking to reduce its carbon emissions by 70 percent by 2025, and reach neutrality by 2030.

Wang says global carbon emissions rose to the highest level in history in 2022, and that she believes climate change is the biggest challenge of our time. According to Wang, decarbonization cannot be successful without constructive partnership. She highlighted the importance of collaborating across international borders.

German technology company Merck Group’s Taiwan managing director John Lee also advised business leaders to look for opportunities to collaborate with other global companies that are dedicated to their local operations.

The event’s organizer Anchor Taiwan’s CEO Elisa Chiu said in her opening remarks that the event offers opportunities for corporates, startups and investors to build their ecosystems and networks centered around technological innovation and collaboration.
