Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) says the administration will continue to focus on three areas: building economic strength, creating a secure homeland, and protecting Taiwan’s democracy. Chen outlined the administration's goals at a legislative session on Tuesday.
Chen started his report by thanking the legislature for its support and guidance in the last legislative session, where 140 bills were passed. 112 of these were put forward by the Cabinet, which is the largest number of bills passed in a single session in 20 years.
Chen says that countries around the world are increasingly emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait and are willing to show solidarity with Taiwan on the international stage. He gave special thanks to U.S. President Joe Biden for announcing a US$345 million military aid package for Taiwan.
Chen says despite the ongoing challenges, the entire administration team will work hard to build a happy, united, resilient, and friendly Taiwan.
