The Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum (NPM) is featuring Korean culture in this year’s Asian Arts Festival.

The opening ceremony, held on Wednesday evening, showcased Korean clothing, from traditional hanboks to modern-day fashion. The event was attended by Deputy Culture Minister Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧) and the former director of the National Museum of Korea, Kidong Bae. NPM Director Hsiao Tsung-Huang (蕭宗煌) also wore a traditional hanbok to the event.

During his speech, Hsiao said that the NPM’s southern branch has been holding the annual Asian Arts Festival since 2017. Each year, different countries and regions are highlighted with South Korea being chosen for this year. He mentioned that professional groups from Korea have been invited to provide authentic cultural performances. In addition, the festival will include cultural exchange lectures between Taiwan and South Korea among other activities.

Additional information about the activity line-up can be found here.
