Former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison will be visiting Taiwan from October 11 - 12 to attend the 7th Yushan Forum, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The Ministry said it welcomes the visit and the former minister’s participation at the forum is a concrete demonstration of friendship and support to Taiwan. It emphasized that both Taiwan and Australia share similar philosophies and are important trade and investment partners. The ministry added that Taiwan welcomes friends from all over the world to visit the country to jointly promote the New Southbound Policy (NSP) and enhance peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Organized by the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF), the Yushan forum allows representatives from Taiwan and like-minded countries to conduct dialogues. In addition, it also aims to facilitate exchanges through the NSP on the development of the region. The forum’s website states that the theme for this year is “Start a new blueprint for Asian Development.”
